Jane Fawcett

Jane Fawcett was born in Wensleydale in 1980 and studied at Leeds College of Art & Design between 2002 and 2003, at Chelsea College of Art & Design between 2003 and 2004 and then at Goldsmiths College, University of London from 2004 to 2007

She had a recent two person show with Nobuo Yoda at Gasworks, London.

Fawcett presents work derived from the previous experiments in site-specific projections that culminated in her piece for the Goldsmiths degree show. She explores the relationship of the Simulacra (a detached reality mediated through images) and the concrete or ‘true’ experience of physical spatial reality by displaying images which dimensions relate to the environment in which they are shown.
For ex, she will re-present her previous site-responsive projection as two maquettes that reference her previous work. The maquettes animate the previous work whilst also remaining unsure as autonomous objects. The façade image seems to situate the maquettes in simultaneously subjective and objective realms, as the image of the boy hanging is one of both action and temporality, leaving the maquettes in an animated situation that continues to be conscious of its own materiality.
